With an increasing budget and increasing department spend, we are seeing the NYPD getting allocated more and more despite seeing a trending decrease in crime leading up to the COVID19 pandemic. Since then, the crime rates are increasing back to normal, but does that justify the ever increasing budget? Or does the budget reflect the decrease in crime since the early 2000s?
